The Journey Begins
Day One
So I got only three hours of sleep and had to get up at six to take Jeric home. Then I returned home and finished packing and headed off to Iowa State, my newfound home.
After I arrived, my family and I unpacked and got my loft set up. Yes, we did take pictures and I will try to get my sister to give them to me so I can add them here for you to see. After my family left with loving words, I started to panic. The realization that I had just been left alone for several months struck me. How was I going to cope? I almost broke down crying because I missed my family so much. So, in desperation to find something to do, I went down the hall to my neighboring hall-mates and met Derek. I got to talking with him and his family and ended up getting invited to dinner, which was quite a treat. Afterwords, I returned back and hung out with Kyle (Drew's brother, not my roommate; he had yet to move in). We sat and watched some TV at his apartment and I returned back and went to bed at a suprising early 10:30.
Day Two
Waking up to an early 9:30 phone call by Eric Swanson led me to my next adventures. Since I am apart of Beta Sigma Psi, I finally got outside and walked to the frat house and helped them clean it out. Around noon, I met up with Derek and we walked the whole thousand blocks to ISU Dining orientation. It was there that we met our new bud, Michael. He's 19 and technically a junior, but was new here, nonetheless. So we all left orientation and hung out. While Derek stayed at his place to finally set up the loft, Mike and I headed to Wendys to grab some grub. I ate so much I felt sick and had to sit down for a while on the walk back. Then we decided to try a LAN party, which ended up failing, but resulted in us trying other things. Now we're hooked on making a parody RPG game that mocks our college lives. So far it just cracks us up, but we're hoping for a full-fledged adventure game.
Day Three
Got up and helped my roommate move in all his stuff (which took over four hours, by the way, and that includes before, during, and after work). Then I went to work at the breakfast bar from 12:30 to 3:00. The job was...boring. Not much to do but wipe tables. I did, however, see many PV students hanging around, including Dan Finnigan, Dan Congreive, Andrew Hathaway, Brandon Morris, Eric Kitzman, and a few others. After work, I came back to see Kyle still moving his stuff around, so Derek and I headed off to find our beloved B.J Church. We found him, ordered pizza, and watched a lot of television (I saw Breakfast Club for the first time!). Then I returned back to my dorm room, set up the DVD player, and talked with Kyle about various things. Now here I am, late at night, re-writing the past three days experience. Iowa State has been a blast so far, and I can't wait to see what lies ahead.
I also miss each and everyone one of you back home and I hope you will all find time to come up and visit (Saturdays, preferably). If not, I will see you all Thankgiving, Christmas, and Spring break. And then....another long summer vacation full of awesomeness!
Until then...
David:
If you ever have time, try and teach me some useful javascripts or php techniques. I do plan to be making websites in the future, so tips would be nice. Also, try and come visit me sometime.
Emily:
I'm still working on my story and I'm sorry for not updating it recently. A lot has been happening, you know. But once I have the next chapter completed, I will send it on over to you.
Justin:
Please write more posts. I want to know what's going on back over there. Or at least comment from time to time.
Haire:
I'm still working on my game, so you can rest assured. I'll be making updates to it as long as I can use my computer. Here is the latest build of the game. I'm counting on you for music. I'm also going to attempt to find better graphics to use for the game.
