Dial 'M' for Manhattan

If there's a book you really want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it. - Toni Morrison

Lately I have been having these urges to write a story. Why? Because I want to. I want to expressify myself with pencil and paper (or typed paper). I really want to write something about something, even if it means nothing to the next guy. Any suggestions or advice?

I would like to write something with some humor involved, and not too much romance (I suck with romance). Action, adventure, drama, comedy, something. I need to write. I love to write. So why can't I write? My mind lacks creativity and ideas which becomes the demise for most writers of that calibur.

Ugh, it's late. Sleep should come, but I have so much I want to do and college is just getting that much closer. I know I will write something by the end July. I have to!

And I also want Justin to write more entries, and have more people comment. Is it so much to ask for more than a one sentence comment? Maybe I'm getting a little over-the-top, but it's something I've needed to say for a long time.

The New Frontier

So as of today/yesterday, I've finally accomplished two things I've always wanted to do.

1. Laser Tag at Michael's Sports World
2. Play a serious game of Dungeons & Dragons

The adventure began with four heroes, drunk and passed out lying on the ground...

Kibbles (played by Bruce), a kobolt bard that can fly; he also tends to summon pianos to fall on people.

Jumanji (played by me), a trogdolyte rogue, on the constant search for more booze and people's money (he also helps Kibbles steal horses).

Krunk (played by Henry), a vicious barbarian that can intimidate anyone for the stupidest reasons...

"I AM A TERMITE!!!!" - Krunk

Henry rolls an intimidation roll/bluff roll and scores-the guard believes him.

"AHHH!" - Town Guard

Note: This was part of our quest to steal wood to start building our castle.

And finally....

Some guy (played by Erik Wells), who's just there to help out the gang.

These are the four heroes that have turned the basic plot elements of the story around to complete world conquest. Having already captured the old town, now renamed Youthshire, our heroes have completed their castle complete with a flag to boot. The monarchy goes as follows:

Kibbles - Ruler
Jumanji - Military Master & Commander
Krunk - Dungeon Master
Other guy - I forget...merchant, I think.

And the adventure goes on...

And for the Auspicious Game Junkie...

Woooooooo!
- Sean

I'd definitely describe that as the feeling in my mind as I toured around the ISU campus yesterday/today. Orientation in general was...well, boring; but they're doing their best (if only they could shorten it by thirty minutes).

If no one else in my group will speak up, I will definitely be the first:

My advisor is insane!

Why? Well, she left an interesting impression on me and my soon-to-be classmates that day. What follows are words of either wisdom or insanity:

"If you are a game junkie...LEAVE YOUR PC AT HOME!"

-> Insert ten minutes of rambling about games and game addicts
-> Followed shortly by our clothing and how our advisor doesn't know much about Comp Sci
-> Followed by threats and verbal abusement (half true, but for the sake of entertainment)

"Thank you for coming."

There was more, but I was too frightened to remember. However, talking one-on-one with her is not so bad, maybe she's just stressed or ticked off about that honor student obtaining a 0.00 GPA because of WoW.

FALL 2006 SCHEDULE

Com S 101
English 104
Math 165
Music 102
Com S 227

I really really wanted to take Chinese 101, but alas, no more seats available (it sucks to be a freshmen...). Then I tried for Music Composition (Music 221 or 211, I forget) and it was the same situation.

There is hope however, that some fool will drop out of Chinese 101 during July (class change time) and if it happens I will be as a cheeta pouncing onto a trampoline and I will enlist in that course ASAP. If not, I have a backup plan.

Political Science. I sat in on one of Dirk's (Political Science professor) classes and I loved it. I will definitely be searching for an open seat in one of his classes (plus, I got to have breakfest with him and he's a hell of a nice guy).

After all the orientation I was exhausted and ended up (no joke) falling asleep in a chair in one of the Cafes that Drew and I went to. So he dropped me off at the hotel and I was out like a light.

Now I'm back and ready to make the most of my summer! Who's up for some swimming and water balloon fights?!
